First time in months. I’m doing a 4 week routine where I lift weights for 3 weeks and then have a cardio week. Repeat. I’m not a runner. I’m not fast. I shouldn’t do it because of my health. BUT, I like it and I figure if I don’t push distance too much or speed, maybe I won’t die? Anyway, glad I did it. Well, I will be glad I did it once I stop coughing and my heart rate comes back out of the stratosphere.

Old sexy fire truck for your time.

Running? Like with your feet and stuff? Is your car not working?

Uh. Yeah. Sadly. Car runs on money and makes you fat. Feet run on fat and saves money. I have much more of the latter.

About an hour to the right of Charlotte North Carolina. But I used to hail from Massachusetts.

I HIGHLY recommend you try a Couch 2 5k program. I started one 3 months ago, went from struggling to run for 5 minutes to easily running 2-3 miles.

I’ve been meaning to start running again. I don’t like to run in the summers, but I do like running in the cold. Feels more refreshing to me.

When I do get to starting it, I run as far as I can, walk for a while, and run again when I can get to it. Usually in about a week or two I can get to a point where I can run distance again.

I can’t do weight lifting anymore though, so I just do cardio workouts and sometimes my girlfriend can convince me to do yoga, but not often.

Good for you, my work out routine is coming back online soon.

Just keep it slow and steady and you should be fine.

Yes. We are originally from Hangov.....err......Hahnov......err.......Hanover. We used to take that truck all over the place (though, it was different color scheme then. And I believe we have. Been a while since I have been on here though and I certainly don’t mind answering!

Yeah, knees and heart keep me limited but I try to get out there as much as possible. The interval training (slower/faster walking/running) is the best thing for you and your body. It helps with slow, steady gains and helps prevent injury.

Hands down one of the best programs out there. I pretty much do that program. Though, I tend to push a little harder than I should because I’m an idiot.

Made the mistake of going cycling with my son and a couple of his friends yesterday. It was cold (around 40 degrees) and they whipped me. After 20 miles, I gave up and just wanted a nap. They could’ve ridden another 20 and not even been winded.

Thanks! It’s a 65 Seagrave (most of it.) We’ve cobbled it together over the years and frankentruck’d it a bit. But we love that powerful beast.

Remind me where exactly you are in Mass? I think SXT (Spelled out. Can’t remember how though) lives up there too. I’ll be up there for a wedding in June. Maybe Small oppo beer meetup?

Oh I have definitely been there! And the cold dry air does NOT help! I once pulled 45 miles in a summer day. That was after a lot of conditioning but it still sucked. I ate a large dinner and slept most of the next day. The kids I was riding with? They got up the next day and did it AGAIN. No. Just. NO.

I just hate slow and steady. Haha. But I agree it’s the best way to train. I figure if I can just keep myself from getting injured or having another cardiac event, I’ll be happy!

I dig it! It looks fantastic. Good luck on the workout regiment! I always feel like it takes a couple weeks to get into it, but after that it’s almost second nature.

Couldn’t agree more! It’s a struggle at first but I honestly love the challenge. Even got my diet kind of under control so there’s that.

yeah that’s what you gotta do. I’ve seen people drop during races, keep to slow and steady.
